Eden, Texas

Southern Power was joined by General Motors, General Mills, and local elected officials to host a ribbon-cutting celebrating the commercial operation of their 148-megawatt (MW) Cactus Flat Wind Facility in Concho County, Texas.

The event highlighted the construction and development of Cactus Flats, job creation, and other economic benefits of the project. General Mills and General Motors are purchasing the associated renewable energy credits (RECs) generated by the facility under two separate power purchase agreements, and both companies have the option to keep or sell the RECs. Cactus Flats is Southern Power’s fifth wind project in the state of Texas and part of a more than 1,600 MW wind portfolio.
